Adriana Matamoros Veloza

I am a Chemist with a PhD in Environmental Geochemistry (University of Leeds).  My work has been multidisciplinary across the fields of environmental remediation, geochemistry, materials science, and corrosion, covering topics related to crystallization (nucleation and growth) and dissolution of minerals via laboratory synthesis. My drive is to understand the fundamental concepts of chemical reactions and processes forming and dissolving minerals as well as to elucidate the electrochemical interactions between minerals and fluids for practical engineering applications, and natural the understanding of geochemical processes. I am very enthusiastic about developing practical methods of analysis through the planning, designing and execution of experimental studies involving controlled chemical reactions and the application of comprehensive characterisation approaches. I am proficient in the collection, analysis and interpretation of  ex-situ and in-situ synchrotron-based methods (i.e., Spectroscopy, SAXS/WAXS, XPDF).
