FEI Nova NanoSEM™
The Nova NanoSEM™ scanning electron microscope is useful for imaging different kinds of samples. The resolution that can be achieved is 1.4 nm. This instrument is capable of working in different modes (immersion mode, beam deceleration mode and EDS mode). It is also a powerful tool for imaging nonconducting samples due to well-equipped detectors.
Leica M165FC Microscope and Eppendorf Injectman and Micromanipulator
The Leica M165FC is a stereo microscrope with 16.5:1 zoom optics which enable it to resolve structures down to 1.1 micron for imaging. It has a fluorescent beam allows one to observe samples with fluorescence.
The Injectman, in combination with the Femtojet, allows for fast semi-automatic injection of fluids. It's micromanipulator allows for dynamic movement and control of injection rate
Zeiss Axioimager Z1
The Zeiss AxioImager Z1 is upright, fully motorized, PC controlled high-performance research microscope capable of Brightfield, DIC (Diffferential Interference Contrast) and Fluorescent imaging. The system has motorized Z drive and can be used to acquire 3D images. The microscope has an Axiocam HRm and colour AxioCam MRc cameras. Zeiss AxioVision software controls the microscope and allows multi-dimensional data acquisition (multiple fluorescence channels, Z-stacks, time lapse). A high speed camera is also mounted to this microscope to take movies of moving object.
Metrohm 907 Titrando
Automatic titrator designed for dynamic, monotonic and endpoint titration, as well as enzymatic and pH-STAT titrations. Includes dosing functions with monitoring

Zeiss Stemi 508
Apochromatic stereo microscope with 8:1 zoom, used to aid the manufacture and alignment of microfluidic chips.
Biometra Tpersonal ThermoCycler
Powerful yet small thermocycler, used primarily for PCR samples.
We also carry out extensive ELECTRON MICROSCOPY to analyse our samples, using both Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Leeds University is very well-equipped with electron microscopes, and we use facilities in the Leeds Electron Microscopy and Spectroscopy Centre "LEMAS" and The Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology, University of Leeds. In addition, we collaborate closely with Dr Roland Kröger at the University of York who is expert in TEM, and use the electron microscopy facilities in the York JEOL Nanocentre.
